AxiCool by ebm-papst Nominated for Environmental Technology Award

The innovative product "AxiCool" from ebm-papst was nominated for the Baden-W├╝rttemberg Environmental Technology Award in the material efficiency category. Products that are making a significant contribution to resource efficiency and environmental conservation were considered. There were almost 60 entries in a total of four categories for the Environmental Technology Award 2015. ebm-papst has been recognized with two awards in the past as well as receiving other nominations.

"We are pleased to once again rank among the environmental technology innovation leaders in Baden-Württemberg. This is a seal of approval and an honor that inspires us to drive the development of more resource and energy-efficient system solutions well into the future," says Gunter Streng, head of development at ebm-papst Mulfingen. He accepted the certificate from Minister of the Environment Franz Untersteller during the awards ceremony held on July 7, 2015 at the Römerkastell in Stuttgart.

AxiCool - the fan for evaporators and refrigerators in the food industry - is easy to handle and conserves resources. This development met market requirements regarding service friendliness, robustness and hygiene, so that the product was continuously developed. Users benefit from the fan housing's two-part design, for example: The optimal heating tape can be upgraded and, due to the double-wall housing, reduces the heat input in the cooling chamber, thus saving energy and costs. The drain troughs in the fan housing make it possible for the condensation water to drain without dripping on the stored goods, thus also preventing the fan blades from freezing when the unit begins to cool down. In the best case scenario, the optional guide vane can almost double the casting distance of the fan, thus reaching even “the very last corner” of the cold store. To clean the evaporator, the complete fan unit can be folded down thanks to its hinge attachment. Due to its hybrid construction consisting of metal and composite materials, it is robust, yet easy to assemble. With engines made of GreenTech EC technology, energy consumption is reduced by up to 25%, high efficiency values are also achieved in the partial load range and the fan conforms to ErP 2015. The AxiCool is a registered German patent as well as a German and Chinese utility model. Global registrations as an industrial design are available or pending.

The Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Management has been handing out the Environmental Technology Award since 2009. It is awarded in two-year intervals in recognition of outstanding and innovative products in environmental technology in four categories (energy efficiency, material efficiency, technologies for emissions reduction, treatment and separation as well as measurement and control technology).
